Driving along in the early afternoon of the day I noticed a home which had the front window filled with hearts. I decided right away I needed to do that. I wrote messages on my side of the heart, intentions for what I want more of, and what I’m inspired by. I filled the entire window.
As I was behind the furniture applying the hearts to the window, I tripped and lost my balance falling into my eagle statue, tipping it and breaking the wing.
I googled how to repair a cement statue and found epoxy is needed, so I just ordered some. Yet in the mien time, from where I sit on my couch, the eagle stares at me.
I ask it, “What, Freedom? I’ve got epoxy on order …”
Walking in the park I saw so many baby squirrels! They are used to people, the park is also a golf course and they have a larger green space with trees to dwell.
This little guy had a mouth full of straw-like substance. I almost walked right into him! I went around and he scurried to his tree. The pic is blurry, but they are so small and cute! Just slightly larger than chipmunks at this stage.
This one is bigger.
The paths were very nice. The wood chips make a nice springy run spot for those who do that. Help absorb the shock of the legs hitting turf.
A beautiful day to consider the ‘nice’ ways I can treat myself. I’m not even sure I really know how anymore.
One thing I DO know, is a scented bath is always relaxing … and so I will have one.
Blessings. May your evening be pleasant and your dreams peaceful.
Last spring I walked into the pasture and beheld a beautiful sight. Mama ewe had just given birth to twins. It was a warm day, and she chose a perfect spot under the shade of a big oak. As I knelt down to welcome them to our farm, this little one wobbled over and touched my fingers with his soft, pink nose.
One thing that stands out to me in life is that birth is always messy, but it is beautiful.
I think the same goes for our creative projects. When you have an idea and you work to bring it into the world, there is a lot of mess. Don’t think that just because you see the clean, finished product of everyone eles’s projects that the mess didn’t exist while they birthed it into being. Every birth is messy.
I wanted to share some of the messy middle I went through to put together the video I shared last week. I published a short blog post about my messy steps.
Whatever creative project you secretly desire to birth into the world, it’s part of the process for it to be messy — physically and mentally. You are birthing something beautiful.
I read recently that while taking a bath it is good to set an intention for healing.
As I soaked, I began thinking of life and the habits we create after, or during, a specific life experience.
Later, we may determine that these habits, these habitual ways of being, are not serving our highest potential any longer. Maybe they are causing issues in a current relationship, or circumstance.
So, we shed them, much like a snake sheds their skin.
Shedding these habits, or mind sets, does not lead to death, although it can feel like it at times.
No, like the snake, it is a period of growth … outgrowing certain traits … and periods of rebirth … replacing old forms with new ways of being and thinking.
I lay stretched in the tub. I flex my spine against the bottom of the tub, and I inch my way up into a sitting position, moving the spine as a snake does.
He came in yesterday. It always seems like the same story. I know you take one look at him and think I’m talking about mange, but I’m not.
We took a sample of his blood and timed how long it took for the sample to clot. It is supposed to take no more than about 5 minutes. It took 17…
What does that mean?
It means, like many other animals that live off of rodents, this young fox likely has rodenticide poisoning. There are studies being done to test the connection between mange and rat poison. It is believed that when an animal is compromised with rat poison, they are more susceptible to mange.
I’m not a scientist. I’m not a biologist. What I am is a wildlife rehabilitator. Like others in my profession, I am the one these animals are brought to when they are poisoned and in need of help.
I am not a doctor – not in any subject.
What I am is an intelligent human being that has witnessed , first hand, the suffering and death rodenticide has brought on MANY of our birds of prey, foxes, opossums, raccoons and other predators that normally help us control the rodent population.
This MUST STOP.
PLEASE READ this article by Laura Kiesel and PARTICIPATE in the poll. So far the poll’s results are not working in this foxes favor…
The time for change is NOW.
I don’t know if we can save this guy but we are going to do everything we can.
“Some people like to think of us as superheroes. The truth is, we are super animal lovers (and protectors). Through the years, and through many caseloads, obstacles, and downright challenges, we remain strong and dedicated to our mission.”
Most of the time, abusers are people that have similar features: they’re insecure, impulsive and ruthless because of problems at home or in their relationships.
The organization believes that animal abuse is only the first step for such people. Later, because they feel like they cannot be punished, they become more secure, and they can abuse someone else like a kid, a woman, or an older adult. This is why it is so essential to prevent all cases of animal abuse.
