Cherokee Medicine Man – Ayunini (Swimmer)

Published November 11, 2022 by tindertender

Swimmer (1835-March, 1899), Cherokee traditionalist and storyteller, was born in the Cherokee country of southwestern North Carolina. His Cherokee name, Ayunini, meaning “swimmer”, was trained by the masters of his tribe to be a medicine man, a doctor, and the keeper of tradition, he never learned to speak English but instead maintained his Native culture and heritage throughout his life. In fact, as it was intended he should be, he became the conservator of the history and traditions of his people.

As a youth he learned the Cherokee Syllabary from the elders of his tribe and began early to keep a notebook in which he recorded the sacred rights as well as the facts and stories of his people. He also made note of their ways of doing things and identified plants, roots, and barks whose use had proven useful or effective in one way or another.

During the Civil War Swimmer enlisted on 9 Apr. 1862 and served as second sergeant of the Cherokee Company A, Sixty-ninth North Carolina Confederate Regiment in Colonel William Thomas’s legion.

Transformation

Published November 6, 2022 by tindertender

You cannot transform that which you have not experienced.

There is a reason for our experiences. They are meant to instill knowledge needed in order to bring about transformation.

How do you transform negatives you say? By changing your mind!

If you want to change your personal reality, you’ve got to change your personality.

Turtle Woman

Published November 6, 2022 by tindertender

Turtle woman is making an offering of wampum to the plants of the river.

“Please”, she asks, “can you help us?”

She explains how we need the rivers to be clean and she acknowledges the plants as the cleaners of the river.

She speaks to the wampum and thanks them also for the light they bring the world.

She talks to the plants for a long time. Telling them what is happening. She explains that the two legged have lost their ways. But there are still some who remember. She tells them about the babies that are coming who need clean water. She cries for her grandchildren.

The plants, being loving and generous, wait for her to finish speaking and then they tell her they have heard her prayers. They agree to help. They are gentle. They never have an unkind word to say about anyone.

From the shore a young person sings a turtle song. Unbeknownst to them, turtle woman is pleading for the world only a short distance below at the bottom of the river.

November 3rd, 65 Years Ago, Laika Was Launched In Space. No Return.

Published November 6, 2022 by tindertender

Laika, “Little Barker”, real name Kudrjavka, “curly”.

Captured on the street, in Moscow.

Half Husky and half Terrier, she was around 3 years old at the time.

Choice because good, docile and perfectly adaptable to the Sputnik 2. capsule. Equipped for life support (food and water) the mission didn’t involve return.

For Laika it was a death sentence.

The interior of the satellite was lined and the interior space was wide enough to allow Laika to lie or stand. The internal temperature was set to 15. and a refrigeration system had to protect the animal from excessive thermal surges.

On November 3rd at 2 am Sputnik 2 was launched into space.

Laika probably survived for seven hours.
But some sources claim that agony was much longer: four days.
Alone, in space.

The satellite returned to atmosphere 5 months later, April 14, 1958, after turning 2.570 laps around Earth.

It disintegrated upon return to the atmosphere.

There’s a deep guilt that all of us should feel reading what we did to Laika. Human progress has often been achieved at the expense of animals that had nothing to do with our desire for supremacy.

Many people believe this was an acceptable price for our conquests, but it seems obvious, even reading this story that was really just a trivial form of prevarication.

We had a duty to choose another path.
We still have that duty today.”

What Is Really Important Right Now?

You are journeying toward the Divine in All.

Once the bridge is crossed there will be great bounty. Allow yourself contentment. Appreciate your experiences and know your worth.

Reinvest energy into the future.

You have viewed the situation wholly. Let the world dance begin. Harmony.

Pay attention to your dreams. Envision the goal. Wander in the end result desired. See it. Feel it.

Crystallize the idea of prosperity. Give your most unselfish love.

Dark Night of the Soul?

Published October 30, 2022 by tindertender

Must accept 100% responsibility.

Life constantly reflects back to us what we put into the world.

Meditate. Stop complaining. Take action. Double your goal. Think bigger.

Waiting until there’s no fear? It doesn’t work like that. Feel the fear, take action anyway.

That’s called courage.

Courage to:

Acknowledge mistakes

Lower pride, don’t make yourself more important than others, make them equally important.

Fear cannot be suppressed or denied. It must be embraced. Our society has become “feeling avoidant”. Go to the center of the energy and really feel into it, breathe the breath of life into it.

Gain emotional competence.

Go to the center of the most intense portion of the energy.

“Not useful” emotions create a cloud around us. It’s only a projection of “what might happen” into the future.

Having fear of the future potential calamity holds back the possibility of “more”.

Empathy

A compassionate feeling and caring for another human being.

Whatever you want … give it first.

Scavengers of Peace

An unfortunate waste of intelligence.

What you give you shall receive … nothing more … ever.

Which means you must be really happy with what you’ve got.

Have you learned to close your hell?

You could be a healer of life rather than a creator and collector of … tears, fears, anger and argument.

Scavengers of peace.

Consistently covering over truth, perplexing minds.

Collective Scars

Published October 30, 2022 by tindertender

Most of us have no way of seeing the emotional and energetic scars of others. The closest we can come is inwardly touching our own, remembering them, and then entertaining the possibility that those same scars may reside inside others, to a greater or lesser degree.

A person can appear healthy and whole and still be wearing these invisible scars.

I think if we considered our own suffering to be as another’s we might be more inclined to be gentle, rather than throwing fire.

Emotional wounds baffle the mind and blind the heart. It can inhibit the capacity to function normally, like drinking and driving.

1 trauma, ok, may bounce back. Even 2-5 traumas. But there comes a time when inner doors shut, at least temporarily, making communication and a gentle way with each other even more challenging.
