Celebrate in joyful peace. Be contented with what you have. Dance, sing, love, and create without anxiety. It is time to rest and to cease driving forward for a time.

One of the most loved of the deities in ancient Egypt was the goddess Hathor. If you visit the most famous temples and tombs, you will see that the cow-horned, crowned Hathor features widely in sculpture and painting.

Hathor is quite an easy deity to identify among the many in the Egyptian pantheon – She is often pictured as a beautiful woman with the ears of a cow or wearing cow horns with the sun itself balanced between them. In later depictions, she is seen with the entire head of a cow. The cow symbols are a hint at her area of influence.

Think of the animal – it’s soft eyes, it’s contented demeanor, it’s role in fertility and maternal nourishment. Ancient Egyptians considered Hathor a mother and sky goddess in her earliest forms and believed she was the mother of the human pharaoh on earth at the same time, her influence extended to all things that give joy – music, dancing, and art!

Hathor is often depicted carrying and ancient sacred instrument, a sistrum, and musicians would carve the likeness of the goddess onto their instruments. Her title Great Menat referred to a necklace, worn by both women and men, signifying fertility and virility. Menats also doubles as musical instruments; Hathor’s priestesses used them in rituals and dances to invoke and draw the goddess.

The temples of Hathor were joyful places, full of songs and beauty. There were even small temples placed in her honor outside other major deities’ temples, so that people could get into a happier mood before worshipping in other temples. The Egyptians clearly believed that having a positive or relaxed state of mind assisted in making a strong spiritual connection.

Call upon Hathor when you most need to find joyful peace in your life. When you are feeling chaotic, ungrounded, or unhappy, her energy brings a steadying influence and contentment. If your schedule is too hectic, you are being pulled into too much drama, or you have a busy and loud household filled with family members, you may seek some peace and contentment. Hathor’s energy is loving yet strong, and it celebrates the idea of being grateful for what we have. If you feel very driven all the time, like you must always excel, you may find sanctuary within her influence.

If you would like to bring more peace and contentment into your life you might try this invocation.

You’ll want to gather four small pieces of turquoise or lapis lazuli (or four blue stones of any type – you could even paint other stones blue in a pinch!), some small bells to jungle, and a white candle.

Light the candle.

Hold the stones in your hand. Breathe in and think about a happy time in your life – a time when you felt peaceful and contented. Breathe in again and pump up this feeling. When it is very strong within you, say:

Hathor, Lady of Amenity, the dweller in the Great Land,

Give me joy!

Hathor, cow-eyed, mother of pharaoh,

Give me happiness!

Hathor, the Lady of Ta-Tchesert, the Eye of Ra

Grant me contentment!

Bless these stones I have in my hand; bring your blessing of joy, love, nourishment, and satisfaction to them and allow them to be a talisman of good fortune.

Place one stone in each corner of your home or room, thanking Hathor and jingling the bells as you leave each one. This will grid your space in her energy.

Snuff out the candle with thanks.

You will be victorious. Teamwork or a partnership may be better than going it alone. Synergy is important right now. Delegation is useful.

You are loved and protected even through the most difficult of trials. This is a time for healing. You need mothering or to use your mothering energy. Magic is happening!

Use your head rather than your heart. Formulate a wise strategy. Plan ahead for best results.

It is time to release an old belief or bad habit. Imbalances of all kinds will fall away. Your pain will soon ease.

Do not doubt yourself. You can trust yourself. Developing self-trust is a necessary part of positive growth. You will be able to succeed in your goal if you believe in yourself. Sometimes you need to say no.

Do not doubt yourself. You can trust yourself. Developing self-trust is a necessary part of positive growth. You will be able to succeed in your goal if you believe in yourself. Sometimes you need to say no.

The Welsh goddess Rhiannon was a graceful young woman who married Pwyll, a Demetria’s king. When Pwyll first saw her, she was riding a stunning white stallion, her hair loose and fair, her smile sweet. He fell deeply in love with her, and they wed. Soon a baby prince was born to the happy couple.

Pwyll’s mother, who had up until now had the undivided attention of her son, became jealous of their love and kidnapped the new baby. She put fake blood on Rhiannon’s hands as she slept in order to frame her for the baby’s disappearance.

When the household awoke and found the baby prince sing and blood on Rhiannon’s hands, the immediately presumed she had done away with the child. Pwyll’s mother accused Rhiannon of hurting the child, goading everyone else to think that way too. Even though Rhiannon did not remember committing such a crime, she doubted herself and spoke aloud that it must have happened. Pwyll was brokenhearted yet could not sentence the woman he loved to death, and instead Rhiannon’s terrible punishment was to forevermore carry visitors to the castle on her back just as a horse would.

Thankfully, only a season went by until Rhiannon began to build the strength and self-trust necessary to question what had actually happened that night, coming to full recognition that she could never harm her child. Soon after, Rhiannon found the young prince, and so her mother-in-Law was banished. Rhiannon was happily reunited with her king and became a wise and powerful queen, never again doubting her own self or her own wisdom. Horses were made sacred to her and honored as a symbol of her hard work and transformation.

Like Rhiannon, there may be times in our lives when we doubt ourselves and even perhaps hand our power over to others. Self-trust is such an important thing to develop – it builds our confidence and makes our decisions easier. Sometimes, it is necessary to say no to someone even though that person would like us to say yes. Self-trust, the ability to know what is best for us and what our capabilities are, helps us cope better in a situation like being bullied or pressured into something that we are not sure we want to do.

As Rhiannon is a moon goddess, the full moon is a good time to do this invocation for more self-trust. You might also like to dress in white or silver. If you are lucky enough to have a horse, groom it and carry some of its hair in your pocket. If you have a piece of jewelry with a horse charm, wear it. If you don’t have access to a horse, print out (or draw) a picture of one and pop that into your pocket.

Create a circle around yourself. You can do this any way you like. For example, you might want to drop some flower petals or glitter around you ina circle. If you go outside to do this, draw a chalk line around you or arrange some leaves in a circle.

Sit down with a straight back or choose to stand in the middle of your circle.

Know that you are safe and loved within this space that you have created. Know that Rhiannon on her horse is with you.

Say:

Rhiannon, you were once like me. You doubted yourself. Fill me with self-trust. So more it be!

Shut you eyes and imagine being filled with trust in yourself. Breathe in deeply and imagine you’re breathing in the power of self-trust. On the exhale imagine breathing out any doubts or worries you may have.

Repeat this a number of times until you feel confident and all those niggling worries and doubts have left you.

Open your eyes. Notice how different you feel! More confident! Now thank Rhiannon and know that as you step out of the scared circle, you have more power that ever before to move out into the world in a more positive way.

Oracle Reading 7-27-2020

Breakthrough: Feel confident that things are falling into place. Just as a seedling breaking through the surface of the earth, you too are going to experience an emergence. The efforts of your hard work will become evident and you will begin to see the difference of all that labor and time you have invested has made. Count your blessings! You are gifted with a creative touch and the ability to generate new and wonderful things. Take a moment to feel proud of yourself for all that you have accomplished.

Vulnerability: You may be feeling like you should withdraw. This is an opportunity to wait and regroup. You are in need of some rest and relaxation. You might even be feeling overwhelmed. Take some much needed downtime. Take in your surroundings. Notice the season and the changes that are taking place out in nature. Things are continually evolving. Think about the clouds you see in the sky. They are constantly moving, changing and reshaping themselves. Allow yourself to connect with Mother Earth and nature in a deeper way. Align your rhythm with the heartbeat of the Earth and slow your thoughts and emotions down. Trust that everything will work out. The signs that things work themselves out are all around you. Take notice.

Gratitude & Appreciation: Recognize the good qualities in others and openly share your gratitude with them. Write notes of thanks to those who have helped you. If someone deserves acknowledgement, take the time to let a colleague know so that they receive the recognition they deserve. Nature is continually sharing its beauty for us to appreciate. Beholding a rainbow is a gift, and when we encounter a rainbow’s beauty, it is the perfect time to be grateful for all the gifts in our lives. It is important to generate the positive flow of thankfulness that can bring joy into someone else’s life. By doing so you will not only decrease your stress, you will also generate the feeling of goodwill and love in your life.
