THE WINTER SOLSTICE

Published December 14, 2019 by tindertender

THE WINTER SOLSTICE FALLS ON DECEMBER 21 EACH YEAR

In the spirit of self care, community care, accessing our ancestral memory and our most powerful selves, here are 14 different ways that you and your loved ones can spend the winter solstice in observance of a natural phenomena that comes only once a year. Take what works for you from this list, and if possible, consult with elders and your own traditional teachings for guidance on the best ways to acknowledge this event and deepen your spiritual connection during this time.

1. TAKE THE DAY OFF OF WORK OR JUST SLOW DOWN AND REST

2. COOK AND SHARE A HEALTHY, COMFORTING MEAL WITH LOVED ONES

3. REFLECT ON THE PAST YEAR

4. GIVE THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR BLESSINGS

5. CLEAN AND HONOR YOUR LIVING SPACE BY DECLUTTERING

6. SHOW THE PEOPLE WHO YOU CARE FOR THAT YOU APPRECIATE THEM

7. CHANNEL YOUR CREATIVE ENERGY THROUGH ARTS, CRAFTS AND EXERCISING YOUR IMAGINATION

8. DRINK NATURAL AND MEDICINAL TEAS

9. PRACTICE SPECIAL SELF-CARE RITUALS FOR SELF AND OTHERS

10. GO TO A CEREMONY OR HOLD A PERSONAL MOMENT OF PRAYER IN YOUR HOME

11. PAY ATTENTION TO THE MOVEMENT OF THE SUN

12. LIGHT A FIRE

13. MAKE OFFERINGS

14. SET INTENTIONS FOR THE LONGER DAYS AHEAD

We know and our ancestors knew that in order to show up for our communities as good relatives and as energized agents of change, we have to be grounded and strong.

Self-Reliant Connections

Published December 11, 2019 by tindertender

At what point does “assistance” become “hinderance”? When it does make this apparent transition, the question must also be asked, “Was it ever actually assistance?”

It is easy to look outside ourselves for the help we believe we need. Sometimes we get fortunate and find someone who really does desire to do good, and provides exactly what is needed for us to boomerang into the positive.

Others however, will see the need and exploit it.

It is best practice to rely on our own instinct, our personal connection to Divinity, or our divine helpers, as we see them.

Unless we are in crisis, it is truly better not to give someone else power over our future thoughts and actions.

If we do seek advice from another, yet they are quite vague and require money as payment, or “sacrifice”, and still remain vague while injecting some sort of urgent hugeness to your role in life … let it go. Sincerity requires no fees, and something that important should develop genuine assistance from the other, not payment first and scarce information to follow.

Be a ‘Brick House’.

Be ‘Mighty’.

Hold your weight and stand firm.

Take this custodianship of your life seriously, and for every benefit of your good name, get enough rest. It is required to keep the nervous system calm enough to make proper divine connections.

Natural Bath Soak

Published December 7, 2019 by tindertender

Boiled Cedar, Wild Sage, and Lavender flower. I let it simmer for a time and then strained the product. I added the entire pot to my bath water (most likely a bit much) and slept more soundly than I have in awhile.

I will finish harvesting the cedar bows my father gifted me. Next summer I’ll harvest more Lavender flower and store with my Wild Sage specifically for the purpose of creating a soaking concoction for bathing.

I had no idea how good this would feel, or that is was even a thing. I was all about epsom salts, or sea salt, or magnesium flakes before. HA … these do not even come close in comparison as far as a relaxing bath additive.

Thank you Toni, wife to Chief Charlie, Blue Clan. I love you with all my heart! I am bringing you a jar of this juice and some Elderberry syrup also. I will be bringing the gifts I did not bring when I wasn’t able to make it to the elder party too, so whoever shows up is going to get some.

Love, love, love …. today feels like a good day to be happy. ❤️

Box Breathing

Hypercapnia = increase level of carbon dioxide (CO2) in blood⁣

More CO2 = more stimulation of vagus nerve and depression of sympathetic neurons = you can fall asleep faster⁣.

How do you get more CO2 without taping a paper bag to your mouth at night?⁣

It’s easy… follow the diagram!⁣

Inhale for 4⁣
Hold for 6⁣
Exhale for 6⁣
Hold for 6⁣

Repeat!⁣

Having more time spent not-inhaling allows you to build up CO2 safely!⁣

Xalos@Turnoxyde says, “Box breathing is a very effective tool! Put it into your tool box of consciousness and create a better reality for yourself and others.”

Trying To Be Good

I’m trying to be good, to ignore what I see and feel. To not talk of it. To pretend the reality I see coming … isn’t.

Oh how difficult it is to be a good girl.
