Be Happy Anyway

Published September 9, 2018 by tindertender

After a joy filled day yesterday I was nearly home when the car in front of me hit a beautiful white bird. The wings flapped as it struggled to get out of the way of traffic, but people were driving too fast. I wasn’t able to stop and help it. I was so sad, knowing that someone behind me would hit it again, and again. I prayed that it would end quickly for that little bird.

I was thinking that someone was trying to send message that no matter how much joy we may have in this world there will always be an occurrence to come along and attempt to kill that beautiful dove of peace, and be successful much of the time. So I voiced aloud, “No matter how often you kill that dove, you will never eliminate peace in this world.”

I wake this morning thinking of that beautiful bird, and I vow to go out and find something that will bring me joy, and I will share that emotion with others I encounter. Call me stubborn, but I will not allow this to hinder my ability to retain and maintain joy in my life.

Although it does make me sad when I see it in my memory …

There is a force out there which will constantly try to take from humans the ability to experience joy. Whatever it can do to keep people trapped in sorrow and fear, or pain and frustration, it will do.

Be happy anyway, go, and do … find situations and make friends who you can enjoy this life with, despite those who work diligently to bring you down, to douse your fire and love for this life.

See the bird fly free in spirit, as beautiful as it ever was in physical form, knowing that nothing can touch it now.

Beautiful Day ~ Unhindered

Published August 12, 2018 by tindertender

Are you going to let them ruin this beautiful day,
These boys, so new on their life journey?

This morning I decided I would be adventurous. I drove to Mt Hood! It was a beautiful day for a drive.

14

I went to the lodge for lunch, ate cheese and apples and some sort of wine jam and fresh baked bread. As I was finishing up I saw a man walk in with his elderly father and young son. Immediately I stood and offered my table. You see, I had the grand view of the trees and another mountain off in the distance. It was glorious! They refused at first, seeing I still had food on my plate. I assured them I was finished, full, and ‘he’ being an elder deserved this fine seat. He wanted to share it with me while I finished, but I left them to enjoy the view and each others company.

I walked out with a smile on my face, happy that this elderly man who had trouble even walking any more would get to sit there and ponder life and relations while he looked out upon this majestic view.

As I drove along, there were so many sights that just blew me away!

I decided to drive to a lake that was several miles up a gravel road. It was so beautiful!

22.1

I took a left a few miles along and the road climbed, becoming very rocky and pitted, I giggled as I drove. I got about 1.5 or 2 miles up and finally came to the first trail. I got out and walked along a little way, it was so quiet! No electrical wires, no sound at all. It was completely still. I got to thinking … I didn’t have a horn, or dog, or big stick or anything, and then I thought I didn’t feel like being a tasty treat for a cougar or something, so went back to the car.

On the way back down, once off the deeply pitted and bolder-y rode I came again to the relatively mildly pitted gravel road and realized I had a flat tire. That hadn’t happened in 32 years! I got out the book and was prepared to learn something new today. While I was reading the book, spare leaning against the car and jack and such all spread out, a jeep pulled up and asked me if I had it okay. I replied not really.

The man and his friend got out and changed my tire for me … BLESS THEM!! I drove the remaining 3 miles out to the main highway and stopped at the rest area gas station for air since the spare wasn’t quite full. Being Sunday, no tire companies were open so I limped the 47 miles back to town with flashers on doing 40 mph.

People were very calm about the whole thing, they just went around me. Until I got into the city, that is. All of a sudden I saw people throwing their hands in the air and jerkily steering around me, rolling their eyes.

That’s when the SUV full of boys showed up. The passenger hung out the window making arm and hand gestures at me. The other passenger in the back seat was taking video on his cell phone. I wondered what their problem was, and that’s when I realized that my flashers were still on. Boys … no interest or ability to consider what someones day may have been like or what may have happened requiring the flashers to be on.

There’s probably a video of me somewhere on social media with a post about an ‘old lady driving through town with her flashers on’.

So, no … they will not ruin this day. Shallow and ignorant behaviors do not deserve my attention, but I did want to blog about it only because their lack of consideration was so obvious. They’ll learn … some day.

PS ~ Here’s a few pics of some beautiful art at the lodge.

It was indeed a joyous day, a day to be grateful for.

Happy Is He Who …

Happy Is He Who

“To live content with small means;
to seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion;
to be worthy, not respectable,
and wealthy, not, rich;
to listen to stars and birds,
babes and sages, with open heart;
to study hard;
to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently,
await occasions, hurry never;
in a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common
– this is my symphony”

Nature Calling

Published August 13, 2017 by tindertender

Today Nature called once again, and I heeded that call. I drove out the old scenic highway and found myself a waterfall and a steep trail to climb … it was fantastic! About 3/4 of the way to the top I asked, “When will this trail end?” I thought, I could just go back now, and almost immediately decided against that thought!! What the heck! I had already come so far!! Below are a few collages of my favorites.

As I walked I thought about what the energies of my body must be doing … probably thanking their lucky stars I finally went for a walk! An uphill walk at that.

My lungs were working, my leg muscles were pumping away and my heart … oh my heart, was loving this little adventure.

As I finally made it to the top, I rested, breathing heavy, long, and deep. It was an amazing adventure!! The fog was thick at the top and visibility from the viewpoint was pretty much nil.

Once at the bottom again, I rested for a moment near the water as it flowed past on the opposite side of the road.

In the light rain that fell during this journey, I smelled the pleasant earth aroma as it drank deeply. This beautiful forest, and others like it, are a portion of that which brings, and sustains, life on this planet. We ought to care for it as though it were our own life.

The First Time I Saw You

Published July 17, 2017 by tindertender

The beauty behind the words of this song touches my soul, and I remember … Perhaps you do too.

We all have memories, and if we are fortunate, this is one of them. Enveloping love energies, within and without our bodies and minds, filling our heart until we thought it might burst.

The warmth of love is more than a memory though. When we allow our vulnerabilities to come forth, when we gift ourselves the privilege of experiencing such love, without fear of what others may think of it, we will be free.

My hope is that all people will be able to say, yes, I know what this feels like. My hope is that once they do, they will ensure actions take place in their lives which grow this love like the finest and most beautiful and nourishing garden there ever was.
