There are people out there, including me, who are sometimes, unintentionally shallow in communications and relations. A longing for depth is usually present, somewhere. But when depth is finally attained one may find it doesn’t look like what was imagined. In fact, it looks more like death than depth. And it can feel like it too. It can change the entire persona of an individual … triggering a rebirth if you will. Some of you may have remarked at how completely different an old friend seems to be.
When younger, the polarities in life are extreme. I’m sure I’m not the only one who can agree. The absolute, emotional devastation or anger vs the all encompassing love and joy among many other areas of action and reaction etc can seem insane.
Sometimes it is quite pronounced when a person consumes alcohol or other substance. Their alter ego comes out, the one who typically dwells in shadows. This alter aspect will cause all kinds of chaos, and man … emotional pole shifts are hard enough without purposefully eliminating capacity to handle the swing of it.
As one who used to drink, I know quite well the affects it has on the psyche, the relationships, and the personal capacity to maintain mental health.
If you wish clarity and control, the spirits must go.
