When a fight breaks out in the backyard the neighbors won’t even know it unless there is a lot of screaming and yelling, and even then they won’t know the full extent of damages being done, or the struggle happening in the minds and hearts of those involved.
As in a backyard fight, the inner wrestling that happens in each individual is not known by those on the outside, although they can look right at the ones grappling with a situation or thought process.
It is these silent battles which promote strength and courage of people. These inner conflicts must be waged alone. Even with counsel, these endeavors are personal labors and overcoming them only happens through the individual effort.
It is easy to give up and give in, to say the world owes us, or that the world is evil and there is no way out. It is tempting to play the role of victim, but in this, there is no rising … and rise we must.
While you fight your ‘backyard battle’ remember, everyone else is doing the same. Let us be kind toward one another, for we are more alike than we have ever imagined.
