Focusing on a point in front of me, the blue ball point pen to my left disappears, winking in and out of sight. I can still see the pattern of the table it rests upon but the pen is gone. Intrigued, I replace it with a big, pink fluorescent marker. It is bright, and once again I focus on a point in front of me. More slowly, it too disappears from sight leaving behind only the pattern of the table.
Some may say this is a natural phenomena called Troxlers Fading, however in my experience, in some circumstances ALL disappears but for the object focused upon. Not so today. Only the pens were removed from vision, all else remained.
Curious, the things that stick in the mind after all these years, more intensly noticed than ever before.
Staring at the black dot, careful not to strain the eyes, the colors fade from sight.
Looking at the black mark the magenta dots seem to disappear.
