Strange how a thought of ‘becoming’ something turns into the knowledge that one has always been that which they seek to be. Potential lies very deep within a person, sometimes not so deep. In order to find it, much work and focus must be applied, as well as an allowing of hidden ability to be released.
There is a propensity to think one must paint this way, or write in this manner, or sew a pattern according to someone else’s design. Getting hung up on the way things should be hinders a showing of the way things are. This is where the allowing comes in.
One may feel quite childish, or amateur in their efforts … I know I do … but this opening the door of creativity must begin somewhere, and it is in the effort to just put pen to paper, or paint on canvas, or thread to cloth, or whatever your desire is. Sometimes it starts out as a mimicking of another’s project ~ once the motions become comfortable, then personal creativity will flow easier. Without effort, nothing will happen.
It is important not to judge the way this flow begins for you. Of course it would be beneficial to have creativity nurtured as a child, but if you make it to your 50’s, after a lifetime of stuffing creativity due to fear of harsh judgement, you owe it to yourself to be the nurturer of hidden talents. Being in touch with this flow enhances life. Again, without effort, nothing will happen.
Yours is the only opinion that matters when it comes to your ability to bring your senses into matter. Don’t look to others for praise or approval, for if they tell you it is not that good, it may stifle the flow coming from you. Just be with your creation … and call it good.
